IRAN OR OTTOMAN TURKEY, CIRCA 18TH CENTURY

This amulet was pierced so it could be swen onto clothing. Amulet of this types often have the same inscription repeated twice on each side. Porter notes their resemblance with Ottoman coins from the 18th and 19th century.
