AN UNUSUAL MOTTLED GREEN JADEITE BELT FITTING
LATE QING DYASTY
The fitting is of triangular section, and is finely carved in openwork on the canted, rectangular front with a pair of chilong with scrolling tails flanking a ruyi scepter, while the flat back is carved with two further chilong amidst lingzhi, and between the front and back are narrow horizontal slits for fitting onto a belt. Together with a mottled green jadeite elongated, oval plaque carved in openwork with a single chilong grasping a lingzhi stem in its mouth. The plaque is mounted in a gold setting.
