BRUSSELS, CIRCA 1630, ATTRIBUTED TO JAN RAES I
Depicting 'Cyrus taking Croesus prisoner and seizing Sardis' from 'The Story of Cyrus the Great', with Croesus flanked by two horsemen, the background with numerous soldiers in a landscape, within a border of fruiting columns with caryatids and parrots, the top with a blue cabochon, the bottom inscribed 'ROBVR.ET.VIS PRVDENTIE.IVNCT OMNIA.SVBERANT', areas of reweaving, cuts to the top of each side border, with town mark BB and partial weaver's monogram
