La coupe et son couvercle ici présents partagent de nombreuses analogies avec deux coupes également datées du début du XVIIème siècle (voir Laue et Haag, locs. cit.). Les trois coupes ont en commun la même forme haute et complexe. Une prise florale surmonte un corps fuselé, facetté ou polylobé, surplombant un fût. Le couvercle de l'exemple conservé à Vienne, exécuté par Johann Eisenberg en 1630, a de nombreux motifs en commun avec notre coupe, y compris les feuilles de palmier épanouies. Compte tenu de ces similitudes, la coupe ici présente peut elle aussi être attribuée à un atelier allemand actif dans les années 1620-1630.
This elaborate cup and cover shares many similarities with two other examples, both of which have been dated to the early 17th century (see Laue and Haag, locs. cit.). All three share the overall form of a tall and complex finial above a lobed or facetted, tapering body and a long stem. The finial of the Vienna example - executed by Johann Eisenberg in 1630 - has a number of distinctive common motifs, including the palm-like leaves of the finial. On this basis the present cup can also be attributed to a German workshop active in the years around 1620-1630.
