La coupe et son couvercle ici présents partagent de nombreuses analogies avec une coupe provenant de la collection de Lily et Edmond J. Safra et décrite comme 'allemande, XVIIème siècle' (Sotheby's, New York, 19 octobre 2011, lot 778, vendu pour 122 500 $). Chacune d'elles ont un couvercle peu profond surplombant un corps à facettes verticales reposant sur un fut cannelé et un pied polylobé. La seule différence notoire est la prise de chacune des coupes, figurative sur notre exemple et composée de huit flèches spiralées sur l'exemple de la collection Safra. The present cup and cover shares numerous similarities with an example offered at auction from the collection of Lily and Edmond J. Safra and described as 'German, 17th century' (Sotheby's, New York, 19 October 2011, lot 778, 122,500USD). Both have shallow lids above a body with straight sides and conforming lobed stem and foot. The only significant difference is in the form of each finial, which is figurative in the present case and consisting of eight spiral shafts in the Safra example.
