The oval plate within a rockwork-moulded frame flanked by naturalistic trees issuing from ruins, surmounted by a pierced acanthus scroll cresting and with pierced C-scroll and trellis apron, re-gilt, the plate probably replaced

The present mirror, with its oval plate surrounded by naturalistically modelled ornament and conceived in the George II picturesque fashion, recalls the work of pier-glass maker Thomas Johnson, whose Collection of Designs for mirrors was published in 1758.
