Depicting a battle between an Arimasp and a griffin, the warrior falling back on his bent left knee, wearing trousers, a tunic, and a billowing chlamys, armed in a helmet and holding a pelta shield, brandishing his battle-axe in his right hand, the griffin attacking from the left, his forepaws clutching the Arimasp's right thigh, on a rocky groundline, the griffin perforated for attachment; preserving extensive gilding throughout
