Each on domed circular base with band of engraved vitruvian scrolls, the stem cast as coral supported on three cast shells, supporting a natural shell with silver-gilt rim, the base engraved with initials ML below a Royal duke's coronet, the shell similarly carved and further carved with initials below a Khedival crown, each marked on base and rim, the based further stamped 'Hunt & Roskell' and numbered '8988'
7¼ in. (18.4 cm.) high
The initials ML with Royal coronet is almost certainly for Princess Marie-Louise of Schleswig-Holstein (1872-1956), second daughter of Prince Christian of Schleswig-Holstein (1831-1917) and Princess Helena (1846-1923), third daughter of Queen Victoria. The further crown above Arabic initials is Egyptian. (2)
