These sets have traditionally been attributed to Dieppe carvers, however, recent research suggests these sets can be attributed to a school of carving based in Geislingen. This set is illustrated in Hans und Barbara Holländer, Schach Partie Durch Zeiten und Welten, Hamburg, Exhibition Catalogue, 2005, fig. 124, page 156.
