Each with a winged nymph handle above a flared spout and berried acanthus collar above a tapering ovoid body with pierced foliate band and an acanhtus-cast cradle on a waisted circular socle and square panelled base cornered by leaf-cast pad feet

These ewers are closely modelled on a pair dated 1815 in patinated and gilt bronze by Claude Galle, illustrated in H. Ottomeyer and P. Próschel, Vergoldete Bronzen, 1986, vol.I, p.364, fig.5.12.6. Another very similar pair are illustrated in Les Bronzes du Mobilier National 1800-1870 (M-F. Dupuy Baylet, p.248, no.134). Other examples are in the Württembergisches Landesmuseum, Stuttgart and at the Palace of Pavlovsk near Leningrad.
