Landscape after Dong Yuan

Liu Jinglin (1888-1976)^, inscriber of the titleslip, was a descendant of a family from the Hantang village in Sanshui county in Guangdong province. His courtesy name was Shiqian and pseudonym Yin , the former commonly used throughout his life. Liu's father operated an antique shop in Guangdong named Duo Bao Zhai (Multi-treasure Studio). Since his younger days Liu loved Chinese calligraphy and painting. While a politician, he was also a member of the Guangdong Chinese Painting Research Society. When the Sino-Japanese War broke out in 1937, Liu joined the Chinese army to fight the Japanese invaders and abandoned his artistic pursuits. After all the tumultuous years, Liu moved to Hong Kong and spent the rest of his life in a tranquil way.
