QIANLONG SIX-CHARACTER SEAL MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE AND OF THE PERIOD (1736-1795)
The exterior of the ovoid jar is delicately outlined in underglaze blue and enamelled in green to depict two five-clawed dragons in pursuit of flaming pearls, with a band of the Eight Buddhist Emblems, bajixiang, around the shoulder.

A similar Qianlong jar with cover is in the National Palace Museum in Taiwan, illustrated in Enamelled Ware of the Ch'ing Dynasty, Book II, Hong Kong, 1969, pl. 13. See also three similarly decorated Qianlong 'dragon' jars, two with covers, which sold in our Hong Kong rooms, 1 December 2010, lot 2831, and 1 June 2011, lots 3994 and 3997.
