Of rectangular form with rounded cusped edges on two sides and hinged lid, pierced decoration around the sides depicting various animals including an elephant, a deer, tigers and various birds on floral background, the lid with a depiction of Krishna playing the flute with two gopis and a cow, all set on floral background

A parcel-gilt pierced pandan attributed to North India with similar Hindu religious scene and animal and avian side panels is held in the British Museum, (inv. 1878, 12.30,755, see Mughal Silver Magnificence, exhibition catalogue, Brussels, 1987, no. 23, p. 50).
