SHENDETANG ZHI HALL MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE WITHIN A DOUBLE SQUARE, DAOGUANG PERIOD (1821-1850)
The brush rest is modeled in the shape of five irregular mountain peaks outlined in underglaze blue, and is decorated on one side with various figures in a landscape setting, and on the reverse with a lengthy poem, Fangzhou Daminghu, followed by the hall mark.

The poem, Fangzhou Daminghu, was written by the Jin dynasty poet Yuan Haowen (1119-1257), and praises boating in the Great Ming Lake, which is in Jinan, modern-day Shandong province.
