A BLUE AND WHITE FACETED BOWL
KANGXI SIX-CHARACTER MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE WITHIN A DOUBLE CIRCLE AND OF THE PERIOD (1662-1722)
Of square shape, with deep sides that flare towards the slightly everted rim, and are decorated with different scenes of court ladies separated by panels of diaper pattern on the chamfered corners. A scene of three boys lighting firecrackers decorates the bottom of the interior. Together with a blue and white bowl, Kangxi period, the deep, flaring sides are decorated with four scenes from the Xi xiang ji (The Romance of the Western Chamber) which are connected by small clouds, while there is a roundel of boys at play on the bottom of the interior below a diaper band at the rim.
