A RARE TWO-COLOR GREY JADE BELT FITTING
YUAN DYNASTY (1279-1368)
Of square form with indented corners, the top is well carved through the dark and pale grey areas of the stone with a dragon clutching a flaming pearl above an oblong loop at the bottom.
2 1/8 in. (5.4 cm.) long

Compare the grey and white jade belt plaque of the same shape, also carved with a dragon pursuing a flaming pearl, illustrated in The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum - 41 - Jadeware (II), Hong Kong, 1995, p. 157, no. 129, where it is dated to the Yuan dynasty.
