The kidney-shaped eared top above a waved frieze fitted with a drawer and a green leather-lined writing slide, on foliate-headed slender cabriole legs joined by a shaped undertier and terminating in foliate sabots, the reverse of undertier with white stencilled monogram 'V' beneath a Royal crown, with old paper label inscribed 'Kaiser Friedrich Palais Zimmer No.244 Lfde. No.16' and a further label inscribed '4'

This table was formerly in the collection of Queen Victoria's eldest child, The Princess Royal who in 1858 married Frederick III, German Emperor and King of Prussia (1831-1888) and became widely known as 'Empress Frederick' after her husband's death.
