This foot stove, usually a practical object has been so exquisitely carved that it is elevated to a work of art. The symbolism and inscription refer to fertility, hope and love. The inscription translates to As the coats of arms infer love conquers (all), and the child of Ceres is on your hand. This stove was most likely a gift from a husband to his wife upon their wedding; the coat of arms and initials are probably those of the husband.
