细节
A PAIR OF GEORGE III SILVER-GILT DESSERT-DISHES FROM THE NORTHUMBERLAND DESSERT SERVICE
MARK OF JAMES YOUNG, LONDON, 1778
Shaped oval and with a gadrooned rim, engraved with a badge within the Garter motto and below a duke's coronet, each marked underneath
13½ in. (34 cm.) wide
73 oz. 17 dwt. (2,297 gr.)
The badge is that of Percy for the Dukes of Northumberland probably for Hugh, 3rd Duke of Northumberland K.G. (1795-1847). It is likely that these dishes were gilded and engraved to complement the silver-gilt display trays supplied by Rundell, Bridge and Rundell to the 3rd Duke in 1823. (2)
