A MUGHAL-STYLE SPINACH-GREEN JADE 'CHRYSANTHEMUM' BOX AND COVER
19TH CENTURY
With gently rounded sides rising from a short foot, the interior of the bowl and the underside of the cover are both finely carved in the form of an open chrysanthemum flower with a cross-hatched roundel in the centre from which rows of fluted petals extend to the scalloped rim. The underside of the bowl is similarly decorated. The attractive semi-translucent stone has dark green speckling and paler swirling inclusions.
