The long inscription contains a poem entitled 'Ni shen xian', which may be translated as 'in imitation of the immortals'. As the title suggests, the poem venerates the mythical deities and describes their leisurely way of life. The one-character seal mark reads 'Lin', which is probably the last name of the calligrapher.
