Compare a similar jade bi carved more densely with dragons from the R. C. Bruce Collection, included in 'The International Exhibition of Chinese Art', Royal Academy of Arts, London, 1935-6, catalogue no. 2784. It is also interesting to compare the 14th/15th century ivory circular plaque carved with a very similar design of chilong in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, illustrated, but not exhibited, in Chinese Ivories from the Shang to the Qing, 1984, p. 32, no. 13.
