Of rectangular section, the two broad sides molded in shallow relief on the lower body with a peach-form panel, the neck flanked by a pair of faceted lug handles, covered overall with an even glaze of greyish blue-green color, the interior of the rectangular pedestal foot similarly glazed and the bottom of the foot covered with a brown dressing

The shape and glaze of the present vase are based on Song dynasty prototypes, such as the Guanyao vases in the National Palace Museum, Taiwan, illustrated in Kuan Ware of the Southern Sung Dynasty, Book II, Hong Kong, 1962, pls. 1 and 2. A related, though slightly larger (36.5) Qianlong-marked hu-form vase of this shape, was sold in these rooms, 19 March 2009, lot 742.
