The deep body flat-cast with a band of three pairs of confronted dragons forming taotie masks reserved on a leiwen ground, the slightly everted rim surmounted by two bail handles, and the whole raised on three columnar supports, with a two-character inscription cast on the interior

The inscription cast in the interior of the vessel is composed of two graphs: Ya, a clan sign, followed by jiang, which in ancient Chinese refers to a powerful bow. The same inscription can be seen in a late Shang ding included in the Exhibition of Chinese Arts, C.T. Loo & Co., November 1941 - April 1942, no. 21, and later sold in these rooms, 18 September 1997, lot 325.
