Traditionally this design is given to Dublin and Liverpool potters among others, in part due to the existence of openwork baskets in this pattern. However, excavations at Vauxhall Cross revealed fragments from similar basketwork, and are discussed by Dennis Cockell, 'Some Finds of Pottery at Vauxhall Cross, London', E.C.C. Transactions, Vol. 9, Pt. II, pl. 134.
