While there is no known painting or fresco by Giani of this subject, there is a vibrant oil sketch (51 x 67 cm.), very close in composition to the drawing, in a private collection, Paris (see A. Ottani Cavina, Felice Giani e la cultura di fine secolo, I, Milan, 1999, p. 115, fig. 178). Ottani Cavina dates the Paris oil sketch to the second decade of the nineteenth century.
