Drowsy: A Bay racehorse with jockey up in a wooded landscape by a classical ruin with a fountain

Drowsy was a bay or brown colt foaled in 1738 by Fox Cub out of Miss Partner. The mare belonged to the leading Yorkshire breeder Mr Crofts. Between 1743 and 1744 Crofts won three races with Drowsy, two at Lincoln and the other at New Malton. The colt was then sold to Mr Greville for whom he won a £50 match at Newmarket on 3rd of October 1745. Drowsy was then sold again to Sir Henry Harper for whom he won races at Epsom (9 May 1746) and Farndon (9 March 1747).
