The Benefit of the Sign of Divination, on occult sciences, Ottoman Turkish manuscript on paper, 17ff. plus 5 fly-leaves, each folio with between 6 and 12ll. of small black naskh with double gold intercolumnar borders, text within further gold borders, catchwords, headings in black within gold or red illuminated panels, with 65 contemporary small miniatures each with a bust portrait of a figure in various costumes and carrying various accoutrements, title page giving the dates AH 1211 and AH 1275, in possibly contemporary black morocco with gilt stamped borders, fuchsia paper doublures, some folios loose in binding

This copy of the Fa'ida-ye ramz-e jafr gives the date of the completion of the work as AH 1211/1796-77 AD.

The varied and playful illustrations within the manuscript include those of a parrot, the Mahdi (f.4,) as numbered in the Arabic numerals at the top of the page) and figures including a certain Hükmi Beg (f.9), Hakki Efendi (f.12) and Rehmi Efendi (f.16). There is a section on Sufis of the Hamzawiyya order (f.29), answers to specific questions concerning the future (f.30) and the events in Rum (Byzantium) concerning the end of time (f.31).
