Arabic manuscript on paper, with 293ff. plus three fly-leaves each with 15ll. of naskh, sura headings in white naskh on gold ground with polychrome marginal decoration, text block within gold ruled frame, gold and polychrome marginal juz' markers, roundel verse markers, polychrome floral marginal medallions, gold and polychrome illuminated opening bifolio with floral spray motifs on gold ground, colophon on gold illuminated bifolio with gilt arabesque frame with signature, in gilt decorated contemporary morocco binding with flap, in good condition

Osman Shakir is recorded as being the son of the important calligraphy teacher Ömer Vasfi Effendi. In fact the father granted his son Osman Shakir his licence or ijaza in AH 1240/1825 AD. (M. Ugur Derman, Eternal Letters, Sharjah, 2009, p.140)
