The inscription on the mountain, peng tuan wan li, literally means 'the peng covers ten thousand miles'. The peng is a mythical bird believed to have a giant wingspan. This phrase is used to wish a person a successful future.

An artist by the name of Wen Ruyu is listed in the Zhongguo Meishujia Renming Cidian, Shanghai, 2006, p. 1204, as a carver who worked in stone during the Ming dynasty.
