The birds on the superstructure of the present lot are a rare feature which appears to be previously unrecorded. Compare the simpler models of wells with water jugs, although lacking birds, included in the special exhibition organized by the Southeast Asian Ceramic Society held at the National Museum in Singapore and illustrated in Spirit of Han, 1991, nos. 192-3.
