Seated on a throne supported by three peacocks over a double-lotus base, his right hand lowered in blessing and his left clutching the corner of his robe, the face with elongated eyes topped by a tall foliate crown, a silvery green finish overall

The position with the right hand lowered in the gesture of compassion and holding the hem of his robe in the left is popular in the Swat and Kashmiri context; compare with a figure of Buddha from the Nasli and Alice Heeramaneck Collection, P. Pal, Bronzes of Kashmir, 1975, cat. no. 20; compare further with a figure of Buddha seated on a throne supported by lions and with similar treatment of the double-lotus base, at the British Museum, dated ninth century, Swat Valley, in Pal, op. cit., cat. no. 73.
