The present lot and following two lots originally decorated the facade of the Josephine Widener Memorial Library in Philadelphia, designed by architect Willis G. Hale. They remained there until the 1970s, when they were purchased by the Brooklyn Museum, where they were installed in 1987; they were removed in 2003.
