The mark is that of the Royal Palace of Versailles. Because of their simplicity it is likely that these candlesticks were made for secondary apartments or for the menus-plaisirs. There is an entry in the Journal du Garde-Meuble for the 15th September 1772:
Pitoin - Livré pour servir dans la pièce de retraite de ler valet de chambre du Roi à Versailles
6 flambeaux de cuivre argenté la tige à cotés, les pieds chantournés et à moulures unies, avec leurs bassinets, ayant environ 9 pouces de haut.

It is of course impossible to prove that the above description from the Journal du Garde-Meuble pertains to the above pair, but it does substantiate that even minor items were sometimes stamped with the interlaced V mark.
