MING DYNASTY, SECOND HALF OF 15TH CENTURY
The deep bowl with gently rounded sides rising to a slightly flared rim, the interior with a central roundel enclosing two large fish swimming in opposite directions with two further smaller fish, the well with large lotus blooms picked out in blue, red, white and yellow, borne on meandering leafy tendrils, the exterior similary decorated, the splayed foot with a lappet band, and the base with a single lotus bloom, all reserved on a light turquoise ground

A cloisonné enamel dish decorated with a single fish, from the same period as the current bowl, is illustrated by Brinker and Lutz in Chinese Cloisonné: The Pierre Uldry Collection, New York, 1989, pl. 33.
