The applied rings to this cup indicate that it was made for a guild and was probably supplied with hanging shields attached.

Münich, circa 1725, maker's mark probably of Joseph Grosshauer
On circular moulded raised base repoussé and chased with raised bands of foliate scrolls and fruit, the knopped stem with applied festoons, the cup decorated with naturalistic flowers between strapwork, the spreading upper part applied with four masks, the domed moulded cover similarly decorated and with finial shaped as a silver-gilt model of the devil, with gilt copper liner, marked on base and cover
