With two-stage barrel with white metal fore-sight and hand engraved signature 'COL. COLT. LONDON', frame with hand engraved 'COLT'S PATENT' within a lozenge, brass grip-strap and squareback trigger-guard each retaining traces of original silvered finish, figured one-piece walnut grips, and matching numbers throughout, the barrel-lug, hammer, grip-strap, trigger-guard and loading-lever each with border and scroll engraving, the recoil shield and stem of the loading-lever engraved with foliage, and frame with profuse scroll engraving, London proof marks

Out of the approximately 700 London-finished Dragoon revolvers it is thought that up to a quarter were engraved

Although the majority of Hartford-London Dragoon revolvers were fitted with the 3rd Model type rounded trigger-guard some examples are known with the squareback trigger-guard
