CASE: fully engraved gorge case with foliate engraved panel to oval top glass, strike selection lever to underside, the base punch numbered '15598' (regilt) DIAL: with foliate engraved mask to white enamel chapter disc, blued steel Breguet hands, white enamel alarm disc MOVEMENT: twin going barrels, bimetallic lever balance to silvered platform escapement, strike/repeat/alarm on two gongs, the back plate with Drocourt stamp and punch numbered '15598'; winding key

Pierre and Alfred Drocourt were highly regarded carriage clock makers. The son, Alfred, succeeded Pierre to the family business. Pierre Drocourt exhibited in the 1860s and Alfred in 1880 and 1889, with numerous medals to their credit. They retained workshops both in Paris (Rue Debelleyme and Rue de Limoges) and in Saint-Nicolas-d'Aliermont. Both used the distinctive trademark: D and C with a carriage clock between. The firm was renowned for its elaborately engraved gorge cases. See also lot 104.
