A larger set of the Four Continents, originally described in the manufactory as Gross Serie Eberleins, originates from an order by Tsarina Elizabeth Petrovna of Russia (1709-1762), daughter of Peter the Great. The present example is from the very similar Mittleren Serie, in which the model emblematic of Asia was described as Türkin.
