QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY

Of globular form with a short foot and slightly everted mouth rim, incised with two sinuous chilong amongst lingzhi and scrolling foliage, covered overall in an even pale celadon glaze, the base with a spurious six-character Xuande mark in underglaze-blue
3 3/4 in. (9.5 cm.) diam.

A similarly shaped waterpot dating to the the Kangxi period in a white glaze, from the Collection of Evelyn Annenberg Hall was sold at Christie's New York, 29 March 2006, lot 125. Compare also a yellow- glazed Kangxi waterpot of similar shape and decoration from the collection of George Francis Warre, CBE, sold at Christie's London, 13 May 2008, lot 240.
