The circular top finely painted with flowers and birds within a beaded and stiff-leaf cast surround, supported by a similarly decorated baluster stem, on a spreading acanthus cast base cornered by out scrolled paw feet, on brass castors, the underside of the feet twice stamped 'H.PICARD'

The Parisian fondeur and doreur Henri Picard was based at 6 rue Jarente in 1831, moving to 10 rue de la Perle in 1839 where he remained until 1864. His firm worked on the petits appartements of Emperor Napolon III at the Louvre, and was known for its fine quality production of pièces de table and garnitures de cheminée. A related table sold Christie's London, 26 October 2000, lot 225.
