Of English construction this table is in the French 'Louis revival' manner fashionable in England from the 1860s. The elaborate floral marquetry is comparable to the work of John Isaac Hicks (1826-1898) who specialised in making pieces in the French taste, often with marquetry or boulle work, from premises at 3-5 Kendal Mews, Blandford Street.
