An illustration to the Shahnama of Firdawsi, gouache heightened with gold on paper, Alexander followed by attendants all mounted on horseback and wearing brightly coloured robes approach a clearing in which stand three figures behind them a purple rocky landscape from which a fierce dragon's head emerges, six columns of nasta'liq above and below with one title in larger gold nasta'liq, reverse with lines of 19ll. of nasta'liq written horizontally and on the diagonal in six similar columns, text and miniature between blue, gold and green rules on wide borders
