by the Imperial Porcelain Factory, St Petersburg, period of Nicolas I, dated 1844
Circular, the centre painted in sepia with a portrait of General Uvarov, facing left, in military uniform, wearing the breast-star and badge of the Imperial Russian Military Order of St. George and other decorations including the breast-stars of the Imperial Russian Orders of Sts. Alexander Nevskii and Vladimir, the Imperial Russian 1812 Campaign Medal, within a gilt ciselé border decorated with Imperial eagles and military trophies, the base inscribed in Russian 'The Cavalry General Feodor Petrovich Uvarov. 1844. M: Kriukov', marked under base with blue underglaze crowned cypher 'N I'

General Fedor Petrovich Uvarov (1769-1824), was a favourite of Emperor Paul I, who awarded him in 1799 the order of St Anne, first class. However he took part in the conspiracy to remove the Emperor from the throne in 1801. General Uvarov saw active service in the Patriotic Wars under Kutuzov and Platov, was an intimate friend of Alexander I, and was awarded the order of St. George at Austerlitz.
