The unusual stylised lotus band on the back of this dish can be seen on two other examples of thinly carved Song dynasty lacquer dishes also from the Lee family collection; the first, a 'lotus scroll' dish sold at Christie's Hong Kong, Important Chinese Lacquer from the Lee Family Collection, 3 December 2008, lot 2102; and the other also from the Lee family collection, included in the present sale, lot 1805.
