Two vases of this form were displayed in A.B. Daniell & Son's booth at the 1876 Philadelphia Centennial Exhibition, of which this is possibly one (see the steroptic image reproduced above). Christopher Dresser originally designed this 'Chinese bottle' form for the London International Exhibition of 1862.
