The egg-and-dart moulded square top inset with a porcelain plaque depicting Emperor Napoleon I, signed Rericha, surrounded by eight further porcelain plaques depicting portraits of various ladies and gentlemen, on cabriole legs joined by an undertier depicting a young boy, the reverse of the central porcelain plaque marked with a blue shield with FD and Vienna and marked AUSTRIA and inscribed Napoleon I and numbered and 2025 and with press mark

The portrait of Emperor Napoleon I is after the painting by Paul Hippolyte Delaroche commissioned by Louisa, 6th Countess of Sandwich in 1838 (now in a private collection). Delaroche depicted Napoleon in the uniform of a Colonel of the Grenadiers de la garde à pied, standing in his office in the Tuileries Palace. Delaroche's portrait is historically accurate and he no doubt based elements of the composition, such as the pose and uniform, on David's celebrated Portrait de Napoléon dans son cabinet de travail of 1812 (Washington, The National Gallery).
