AN UNUSUAL LONGQUAN CELADON CARVED DISH
MING DYNASTY, 15TH CENTURY
With shallow rounded sides rising to an everted rim, the center carved with a central lotus spray surrounded by a frieze of fine lotus scroll in the well and a narrow band of classic scroll at the rim, the exterior with a further frieze of lotus meander above a band of key fret encircling the shallow, slightly tapered foot ring, covered inside and out with a glaze of soft sea-green color which continues over the foot to cover the base except for a ring burnt orange in the firing
