The combination of a bat and sea waves represents the wish, 'may your happiness be as vast as the Eastern Sea', while peaches represent longevity.

It is very rare to find this design on a porcelain bottle of this particular tapering ovoid form. This design is more commonly found on porcelain bottles with more broad shoulders, such as the Qianlong-marked example illustrated by R. Kleiner in Chinese Snuff Bottles in The Collection of Mary and George Bloch, London, 1995, p. 295, no. 195.
