Comparable to the artist's view of the harbour of Dunkerque dated 1650 in the Collection de Grez, Musée des Beaux-Arts, Brussels, W. Bernt, Die Niederländischen Maler und Zeichner des 17. Jahrhunderts, Munich, 1980, V, no. 463. An alternative attribution to Gaspard van Eyck (1613-1673) has also been suggested following a comparison with a drawing in the Fondation Custodia, M. van Berge-Gerbaud, Eloge de la Navigation Hollandaise au XVIIe Siècle, Paris, 1989, no. 34, pl. 47.
